Christina’s Costumes was established 30 years ago in Coogee, Sydney by Chris Chrysostom. As a qualified designer dress maker, Chris was keen to offer her clients well-made and unique fancy dress costumes which she continues to do today.

After operating a successful retail store for 30 years, Chris moved to Merriwa in the Hunter Valley to pursue another passion – caring for our Native wildlife.

Christina’s Costumes is a collaboration of Chris’s two passions – fancy dress making and caring for native wildlife.  All sales made from this website go towards supporting the work done at “Wombat Creek Native Animal Refuge”.  Your purchase helps ensure this valuable work can continue for years to come.

Christina’s Costumes has a range of costumes to suit any taste and budget – including bespoke original costumes made by Christina, vintage pieces and carefully selected pre-packaged costumes and accessories.

I create original fancy dress costumes right here onsite at “Wombat Creek” Wildlife Refuge.

If your bored with the mass-produced costumes we see everywhere these days try one of my originals.

My original costumes are well made and comfortable. My images aren’t professional as I can’t afford it and prefer to use the funds improving the land here for conservation. So, when you get the costume it will probably be better than it look in the pic and won’t disappoint you!

A select range of pre-packaged costumes which I pick carefully.

I know which are reasonable or good as I have 30 years of past hire and retail experince in my shop which was situated in Coogee, Sydney, NSW. I am familiar with the quality of what the different supplier’s stock.

  • I have some great vintage clothing for sale that can be worn at decade parties and will also be a special item in your wardrobe.
  • Fancy dress costumes for adults and children.
  • I have range of quality inexpensive wigs that are easily cleaned and reused as well as cheaper ones.
  • I have costume accessories that you can add when ordering a costume.
  • I am happy to take phone calls to discuss any questions you have.

I hope you will be interested in what I have on the costume website and my new costumes as they appear.

Caring for Australia’s wildlife

After trading in Sydney for 30 years, in 2008 I moved to Merriwa in the Hunter Valley where my partner Larry and I have established “Wombat Creek Native Animal Refuge”. Check us out www.wombatcreek.org

Those of you that know me from Sydney will know that Larry and I rehabilitated injured wildlife in Sydney for many years.  There was usually a bird, possum or a Flying Fox at work with me which most people really enjoyed.

During the drought and then the fires we were feeding up to 100 animals every day.  It’s so wonderful now to see everything green and so much food around.

Any purchases support our Australian wildlife and make it possible to continue what we have here.
